Almost every Viking range fault is either spark, gas or heat, and the three fail in recognisable ways. Delayed ignition and a burner that lights only after a dozen clicks are usually an igniter or a harness that has taken years of spill and steam, not a valve. A flame that lifts off when the hood runs is an air-balance problem in the room as much as in the range.

The band comes first, over the phone. The firm figure comes second, in your kitchen, once the fault has actually been found. Between those two moments nothing is taken apart and no part is ordered, and once you say yes the $89 already paid for the visit is deducted in full.
Worth knowing Buying your way out of the problem instead means $7,360–$15,710 for a comparable Viking replacement, before installation — so on a cabinet that is otherwise sound, almost anything in the table above is the cheaper side of the arithmetic.
